Coaching

John  Gulden has been involved in the rugby community for over 15 years in a variety of roles including coach, administrator, and player. Coach Gulden is currently serving as an Assistant Coach at Central Catholic High School in Pittsburgh, PA.

The  large majority of Gulden’s coaching has been spent at the collegiate level including 10 years as a college coach.  Most recently serving as the Head Women’s Coach at Adrian College in Adrian, MI. Prior to his time at Adrian, Gulden served as the Head Men’s  and Women’s Coach at Marywood University. Gulden established both rugby programs at Marywood and Adrian. While at Marywood Gulden was selected as an Assistant Coach for the Mid-Atlantic Rugby Conference (MARC) Women’s All-Star Team that competed in St. Petersburg  Florida in the NSCRO All-Star Championship. Additionally, Coach Gulden served as an Assistant Coach for West Chester Women’s Rugby and Head Coach for the Lock Haven University Men’s and Women’s Rugby Clubs.

Administration

As  an Administrator, Gulden served on the Board of Directors of the MARC for two years. Initially as the Compliance Director and later as the Commissioner for the MARC. As the Compliance Director Gulden oversaw compliance for all programs and student-athletes  within the Mid-Atlantic.

As  Commissioner, he organized Conference Playoffs, Operations and Management for over 50 rugby programs across Division I, II and Small College.
